In our last post I mentioned the measure sticks that are located at the low spots on the road. With that in mind I thought I would take a picture of what we pass over when we come and go from the resort. There isn’t a bridge at this low spot, just a few culverts under the road. You can’t really see how shallow the dip is in the picture but if there was 5 feet of water over the road, the water would extend 20 or 30 feet up the road on both sides of the stick. Now that’s a lot of water. They are talking about 3 or 4 days of steady rain later in the week so we might see some water on the road.
A few posts ago I also mentioned the pre-thanksgiving pot luck diner that was hosted by the resort. The weekend after that diner there was a Marble Falls Christmas Light-Up Parade in downtown Marble Falls. This was followed by the Walkway of Lights display. This is somewhat similar to Saskatoon’s very own Enchanted Forest Holiday Light Tour. There is no entrance fee and you have to park and walk in. They ask for a donation or get you picture taken with Santa for a fee. All money collected goes to local charities.
We didn’t actually walk through the display but observed it on the opposite side of the Colorado River. As the display is on the banks of the river, it was easy to see it from afar. I was able to get a couple of photos of the display. The first one shows it all, while the second shot is a panorama that you can click on to get a larger format.
We are in our last week here at Marble Falls and will be off to Lake Corpus Christi State Park before we know it. I am not sure what we have in store for this week. You never know, we just might just sit back and relax.
