On The Move

Yesterday was cool, gloomy and damp. We didn’t venture out for the distillery tour today. We just sat around and played it cool and got ready to depart Florida.

We woke up early and were on the road before 8 A.M. The sun wasn’t out and it looked like rain. The temperature hovered around 17°C all day and yes the skies did open up and it rained most of the day.

We learned a valuable lesson today, “don’t drive through Atlanta on I75”. It looked like the best option on the map. The Interstate went right through town and we knew there would be no traffic lights to impede our travels. Our other option would be to circle around the city, which would have been quite a bit longer. However we learned that this extra distance could have saved us some time because we spent over 3 hours traveling through the city. A lot of this time was spent going less than 10 Km/hr. We won’t be doing that again.

So now we are stopped after 713 Kms and 10 hours in the truck save for a couple of rest stops for fuel and a stretch of the legs, at a highway rest stop near Adair Ville Georgia on I75. We hope to get in about the same amount of distance tomorrow and end up near St Louis MS.
